Sorry, Cheri, I'm so enamored with my own voice that I've turned a reply into a whole post about a football player I'd never heard of till this week. 
Well, he's got people talking about a problem that (white) people are usually unaware of. For example, towns throughout the South fund a large part of their budgets by fines on poor blacks. When they can't pay, they're jailed and assessed more fines to get out. If they can't pay those, the towns hook them up with predatory lenders. White people are almost never fined in these towns for the same infraction. We're talking about this because a famous, rich black man took a stand (ha ha, he took a seat). But poor blacks have been saying this for years, and no one could hear them.
